Wood chips are the final step to a healthy soil.
You’ve added your worm castings (first step) to get the microbiology going in the soil. Then you added your compost (second step), which is great to keep thing fed and operating as it should in the soil. The last thing to keep everything protected from the elements.
Woodchips are the roof to the soil. It protects everything from things like rain, heat, cold, wind, and the sun.
Application Quantity Recommendations
We recommended using 2-4 inches of woodchips on top of soil or compost.
If you already have a layer of compost on your soil you can use closer a lesser amount. If you have bare soil then no less than 4 inches.
*Our woodchips have been composted. This means our woodchips will not take nutrients from your soil like regular fresh woodchips will.
