Living Soil is full of beneficial microbes, fungi, and tiny organisms that break down organic matter and release nutrients naturally. This build strong roots, improves water retention, and helps plants fight stress and pests so your garden grows bigger, healthier, and more resilient to our desert climate.
Yes. We have these worms indoors and outdoors, and they do just fine if you give them enough space, food, and moisture. We don’t recommend placing them in containers. You should aim to keep soil temperatures below 85° degrees Fahrenheit to keep the worms happy.
I always recommend keeping the worms in the ground, but in order to do that you need a few things in place first.
1. You must have an irrigation system in place. They will die without water.
2. You will also need 2-3 inches of mulch to keep the soil and worms insulated from the heat, cold, and keep things moist.
3. And food….yes, you need to feed the worms. There are 2 ways to do this.
a. Add compost 3x a year (Valentines Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day)
b. Add an in-ground worm bin. This is were you will put your organic waste like food scraps, grass clippings, leaves, cardboard, paper and that will keep the worms fed.
There is an industry rule of thumb of 1000 of worms per sqft of compost area. We like to say it depends, because it comes down to how much food you can feed them. For 1 or 2 people 500 is a good start and for a family of 4 a minimum of 1000 is what we recommended.
For a garden, Dr. Clive Edwards from Ohio State stated that a healthy soil contains 100-250 worms per square yard or 9 square feet. That comes out to between 500-1000 worms for about 32 square feet or a single 4ft x 8ft garden bed.
We only recommend adding worms once you have irrigation in place, use compost 3x a year or have an in-ground worm, and have mulch on top.
Yes, you can add worms to compost as long as its a static pile that isn’t turned.
Yes, you can put worms in your garden as long as you feed them. In our experience compost piles and gardens should be a minimum of 18″ deep and a minimum of 6 sqft with irrigation to survive our summers.
– Worms are a long term solution to keep your garden, lawn, or farm fertilized but this takes time. I say at least a season or two.
– Worm Castings is a way to get everything going right away. No time to wait….then go with castings.
– Or do both …. this gets your soil going right away and then you have worms to take care of your garden forever.

We try to replicate what Mother Nature does in the wild. We do this with the use of a microscope, worms, and the help of microbes in the soil. Creating a habitat as close as possible to what you would find in nature so worms and plants can live happily and healthy organically without any chemicals.
We do not offer refunds, but we do provide store credit.
